YSR makes light of TDP’s poll promises

Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy appealed to the people to cast their vote after comparing the five year rule of his government with the nine year rule of the Telugu Desam.

Addressing election meetings at Makthal, Wanaparthy and Kalwakurthy Assembly segments in the district on Saturday, the Chief Minister dismissed the poll promises being made by Telugu Desam chief Chandrababu Naidu saying that “all free” promises cannot be trusted. He reminded that Chandrababu Naidu failed to waive loans and electricity arrears during his rule when there was drought for years and farmers were in distress.

Referring to the statement of Mr. Naidu before 2004 elections that the electricity wires would be only useful for drying clothes if free power to agriculture sector is provided, he ridiculed Mr. Naidu’s promise to provide free power for 12 hours per day.
