Congress ads: CEO urged to stop telecast

Charging the Congress with depicting official programmes as party schemes in eight advertisements telecast by Telugu TV channels, Telugu Desam on Sunday urged election authorities to stop them and prevent Congress from misusing official machinery in political advertisements.

In a petition to the Chief Electoral Officer, TDP’s general secretary M.A. Shariff, said there were several objectionable contents and pictures in the advertisements as they were contrary to the provisions of ‘Programme Code’ and Advertisement Code prescribed in the Cable Television Networks ( Regulation ) Act and Rules and the Model Code of Conduct.

He wanted reconsideration of the permission granted for telecast of the advertisements by the committee constituted for certification.

Mr. Shariff also urged him to take appropriate action against Congress leaders for misusing Government Guest Houses.
