TDP complains against Sakshi TV

The TDP on Monday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against Sakshi TV channel owned by Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, son of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, accusing it of violating the provisions of the Cable Television Networks (regulation) Act and the model code of conduct.

M. A. Shariff, TDP general secretary, in message faxed to the EC, alleged that the Sakshi channel was ‘unleashing political propaganda of the worst kind by telecasting various defamatory visuals under the guise of programmes which contains insinuations against N. Chandrababu Naidu, and other TDP leaders.

The complaint sought EC directions to Sakshi channel to stop the telecast of programmes which contains defamatory visuals and initiate appropriate penal proceedings against those responsible for such telecast.

In another complaint to Election Commission, TDP charged Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy, N. Varadarajulu Reddy, MLA, and other Congress leaders with violating the model code of conduct in the election campaign at Proddatur in Kadapa district during the day, by using Congress flags, buntings and welcome banners.
