Women voters outnumber men

Women will have more than an equal say to decide the fate of political parties this time, because they outnumber their male counterparts by 6.1 lakhs.

There are 2,86,49,632 women and 2,80,38,325 men among the voters in the State, whose strength swelled to a high of 5,66,87,957 (over 61 per cent of the State’s population of 8,60,51,123 projected for 2009).

An interesting aspect is that the male population in Andhra Pradesh is higher by 10.3 lakhs.

There were 4,35,40,649 women as against 4,25,10,474 men in the State as on that date.
