PR workers on the rampage

Announcement of second list of party candidates by Praja Rajyam on Saturday night triggered widespread protests across the State with disgruntled cadres attacking party offices and ransacking furniture.

Irate PR activists in Warangal set the party office ablaze. Scores of supporters of an aspirant Sampath Kumar rushed to the party office near Kakatiya Medical College, broke it open, brought the furniture outside and set it afire. Fire services personnel extinguished the fire later. Several aspirants were a dejected lot as they failed to find their names in the list announced this evening. A report from Anantapur said supporters of A. Surendrababu, an aspirant for Anantapur Urban Assembly constituency attacked the party office after the ticket was allotted to T. J. Prakash. In Khammam district, similar scenes were witnessed when followers of M. Srisailam, a strong aspirant for the Khammam Assembly ticket ransacked the office. Similar protests were reported from Nizamabad and Adilabad districts.
